Working away….but it’s fun!

Yesterday was a busy busy day. I’m in the middle of updating everything in my catalog, and…that’s a big job.

Currently I have 25 books out, most of which are short stories. I’ve been updating the back-matter, authors notes, and just about everything else, then republishing them. Plus…I’m finally going wide. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, at least with my short stories, but it’s been a task since there are so many of them. Now that I have a couple more books ready to be edited so I can publish them I think it’s the right time to get this done.

So, over the next couple of weeks that’s what I’ll be doing. Editing, reformatting, and uploading my books as they drop out of KU. If you are in KU and you want to read any of the short stories you should do that now while that is an option. I know some of them are dropping off the beginning of next month, and the rest will be out in the next three. So by September all the short stories will be out of KU.

As for the writing, I put in another chapter or two of the second book in my litRPG. I figured out the rest of the plot. And I started work on the third book. This is going FANTASTIC! Expect to see them starting to appear in another month. I want at least two and a half books complete before I start publishing. This, along with Costume Shop and another short story will give me a chance at getting a lot of new books out there for you. The last month and this month I wrote more than 11,000 words. That’s double what I was doing before. It’s good to feel creative again.

Also, Small Bites 1 is free this weekend. I’ll have a few short stories free during the next few weekends to take advantage of their last bit of time in KU. This will be the first one.

Also I will be streaming occasionally. If you’d like to come over, chat, ask questions, or see what I’m doing stop in and say hi. I will be drawing, painting, doing different crafts, or writing. I might even do a few small games here and there.

Till next time, happy reading.

New Projects for a New Year

I bought a book. Well, I’ve bought many books, but this one is unusual. It’s a craft book with 100 small sewing projects.

You see, I’ve been in a bit of a rut lately. I’ve been working on my novel here and there, but I need something else to help fill those creative wells. Sometimes it helps to read. Sometimes play games. Sometimes go on a date with the boyfriend. Sometimes just switching projects helps a lot.

So I’m going to try something totally different. I bought a book called 100 Pretty Little Projects, and I’m going to do them. Once a week, every week, this year. I’m going to stream it to Twitch, then hopefully edit it down and stick it on YouTube. I’m hoping this will get me out of the rut I’ve been in since it is something completely different from anything else I’ve done.

So… Wednesday, here I come. I have the book, I have the fabric, and I have a camera. Now I’m going to tell that little bit of self doubt in the back of my head, the one that has constantly followed me since I was a kid trying to learn my multiplications and it was drilled into my head how stupid I was for messing up. I’m going to prove it wrong.

It’s not going to be easy. It’s really hard for me to put myself out there like this because I’m not just putting a story out there and letting people love or hate the story. I’m putting me out there, and it’s really tough to believe people want anything to do with me most of the time. But I’m going to try. And I’m going to keep trying till I figure out that it isn’t as scary as it seems.

Starting with this Wednesday! Follow me on twitch if you want to watch the mayhem!

One more day

Yesterday I finished writing Costume Shop, which I’ve been working on for a couple years. It’s a Halloween story, so I always worked on it in the fall. I’d write a few paragraphs then Halloween would be over and I’d move on to something else.

This year I had the beautiful art done by my daughter to spur me on. I really wanted to get it done, and out, so that everyone could see it. So I finally finished it.

Which brings us to the next part; editing. And I only have one more day to do that before we get in a car for a week long journey to LA, and twitchcon.

I’ve already done a bunch of editing, so it’s only a matter of going back over it once or twice and cleaning it up, but still…. I have to actually do it.

If I manage it Costume Shop will be available this weekend. It is an RL Stein style chapter book for younger readers. I might even do a few more in this style…. We will see.

For now I am mostly packed for twitchcon. Gregg has a few finishing touches to do tomorrow, and then we start driving. Well I start driving. I’m sure he’ll take the wheel after a much needed nap.

Twitchcon is a go!

It’s just about time for Twitchcon. If you’ve been following me on twitter you might have seen pictures of my boyfriend, Bjornsworkshop, and his giant suit of leather armor! It’s amazing. I love it! I can’t wait to see him on stage at the cosplay competition!

We are driving down in October, staying for a few days, and then driving back home to Seattle. It’s going to be a long, exhausting, wonderful trip.

And the best part about it is that he was voted in. All you wonderful people, and the people in his stream, and family and friends, voted for him so he got the first spot in the armor category! So much love and support, it’s been amazing to watch.

We will, of course, be sending out some vids for the trip. We have to share our journey with everyone. Maybe I’ll start vlogging a bit more this evening. Of course his whole build is on twitch right now, too.

Games, and more games

A while ago Garrett, Scott and I tried doing a gaming video every Saturday. Then life got busy for each of us, some of us more so than others, and that fell apart.

But gaming is still a big part of my life. I love it, and I spend a lot of time doing it. Less so now that I’m writing, and finishing, novels, but definitely still doing it. And I love sharing my experiences with other people who love games too. I shared a little of one of my Minecraft worlds (before the file was corrupted) and also played Gone Home.

But my youtube channel is more personal, I think. I want it to be for vlogs, little funny, or beautiful videos to share with my friends and readers, and things like that. It seemed a little odd to have the gaming stuff there too.

SO! I created a games only channel. I’ve actually had the channel for a little while, but I didn’t post things there before. Now I have a reason to. Lelula Games will be exclusively games, and game con related. I might even do some tutorial type videos, like cos-play since Gregg and I do that sort of thing.

You will also be able to watch me live on Twitch. Come, hang out, tell me how bad I am, or encourage me. Maybe give me some pointers.

Some of you might remember that I had a twitch channel before, bendaini, and I still have it, but I wanted the youtube and twitch channels to match, AND I wanted to use my gamer name. Lelula is easier to remember, and say.

If you’d like to suggest any games to try I’m all ears too. I have a huge list of them to go through.

Posting Frenzy!

Tonight I posted a few clips of Gregg and I just having fun. This one I think is especially funny. But it got me thinking… what the heck, Crissy?! Since when are you a youtuber?

And the answer is; I’m not. Well, I suppose I am in the fact that I do post videos on my youtube, but I’m not as serious about it as other youtubers. I don’t post regular content. I don’t have a weekly list of things I do. I don’t even know when I will have a chance to record since I live in a small house with a large family, and no one is going to be quiet for me to record most of the time.

But I do love recording. I love gaming. I love talking about the things I’ve done. So it seems natural to vlog, and record the games I play. To have discussions around it. And to share it online.

I don’t claim to be good at it. In fact just the opposite, though I am getting better. Gregg and I have a lot of little funny moments that I think are great to share. My gaming… Now that has been an interesting exercise in self discovery.

As I said, i love to game. I love building things in Minecraft, hunting dragons in Skyrim, and in general exploring and seeing new worlds. I think some of this stems from the fact that I love traveling in real life too, but it isn’t really possible very often. Travel takes money, but exploration of a new shore in the world of Skyrim, or building an epic castle in Minecraft isn’t that expensive and can be done over and over again.

I think I’ll keep doing the youtube and twitch channels. I hope I even make some new friends thorugh both mediums. For now it’s more for myself then anything. If you’d like to view them then please, stop by. Say hi. Tell me where I could be more entertaining. I’d love that.
