On Sleep

Yesterday I went to work, like normal, and about half way through the day I just started feeling run down. My eyes burned, my throat hurt, and I was exhausted. Sure, I didn’t have a full nights sleep, but I rarely do and it shouldn’t have come on so quickly.

I had to work half my shift, so I forced myself to get through the last hour or two before coming home. As soon as I laid down I fell asleep, another thing that never happens, and I slept for about five hours before waking up. If I hadn’t been so hungry I probably would have gone back to sleep, I was still exhausted. I tried…I really tried to stay awake for a little while. Gregg and I watched a little tv together and I started falling asleep leaned up against him after only a couple hours. So back to bed I went.

This morning I woke up at 8am and I felt a little better. My eyes didn’t burn, and my throat wasn’t as sore. I didn’t feel exhausted, just the normal amount of tired for waking up to go to work. And I did. I went to work. I lasted about half the day before I started getting really tired and had to go home again. Got home, climbed into bed, and fell right to sleep for another five hours.

I did manage to stay awake this time for a few hours, but it’s midnight and I’m starting to fall asleep at the keyboard again….so I’m going back to bed. Thankfully it’s my weekend so I can get over whatever this is that’s keeping me down. I’d really like to get back to normal.

But I did manage to write a little before I passed out again. Now… Off to bed.

5min – Day 11 – What a day

Yesterday was an interesting day. I had to get up at 8am, get out of bed, and leave for my daughters house in order to avoid being trapped when they painted the stairwell outside my apartment.

I don’t usually wake up till 11am. I work nights, and stay up till 3 or 4am, so this isn’t a problem. But yesterday, trying to get up that early, really was. I woke up to the alarm just long enough to turn it off. Realized I turned it off instead of hitting snooze and tried to reset it to go off in ten minutes. Woke up at 9:15 from my boyfriend telling me “you’re screwed. It’s after 9, they are probably painting already.”

Thankfully I was able to roll out of bed, throw on some clothes, and stagger down the stairs half asleep before they actually started painting.

I don’t like mornings, if you can’t tell. That’s why I write in the evening, when I’m more awake and my mind is working.

But I managed to have a nice breakfast with my daughter, and went to a little toy shop near my house that was having a big sale. Picked up some new charms for my necklace, and some cute little figurines for my desk. Half inch rubber ducky? Got it! Do I need it? No way, but it makes me smile every time I look at it.

When I finally made it home from work I was so tired. I never got a chance to do my morning pages because I was too busy just trying to stay awake.

Note to apartment complex, not all of us have day jobs. Sigh.

And that’s my five minutes.

Sleep!

It’s 2am, do you know where your pillow is?

Mine has been under my head, on the floor, under my knees, beside me, and… well… everywhere. Still, I can’t sleep.

Allergies, how I hate them. I can’t get comfortable, and breath. My throat feels constricted, and my eyes blurry. Thus the pillow dance, trying to find a way to get comfortable and fall asleep.

I have five pillows on my bed. You’d think I’d be able to figure something out… no dice.

Maybe I should tell myself a story… one about jelly fish creatures on another world trying to figure out how those bipedal humanoids actually made it to another planet….

TL;DR this post is me rambling to myself, trying to fall asleep.
