Published! AGAIN!

The Ring

My new title, The Ring, is a paranormal thriller. Just under 3000 words. It is 99 cents for the weekend and will be going up to $2.99 on Tuesday. (I’m giving it a couple extra days since I had technical issues and it didn’t actually get published until this morning. It will be available on both Amazon, and Kobo sometime later today.

The Ring is a modern, paranormal, fantasy, and is the first in a five book series. Each book will focus on one of the items, and some of the things that happen because of them.

I suppose it is a lot like “Warehouse 13”, the old “Friday the 13th” tv series, or “The Room” tv series. One item, one shenanigan, and a close. I might have to write more then five episodes if people like it.

Next week “Small Bites 3” will be out. I am hoping to have all four small bites, and the accompanying “Small Bites 1-4” book out by the end of the month.

The only thing that worries me, just a little bit, is that eventually I’m going to run out of half finished stories, and this once a week publishing is going to slow down. I guess I just need to learn to write faster.

I also ordered, and received, some stickers for my book covers. Once I got the book covers in my hand I realized just how much I loved them all. I’ll be giving some out at PAX, so if you’re there let me know.

Prophecy By Barlight, Get It While It’s Hot!

A prophecy taunts the proprietor of a little bar, until he can’t take it anymore. Mayhem ensues.

Prophecy by Barlight is out, and available for this weekend only at 99 cents.

After this weekend it will go up to $2.99.

So get it while it’s HOT!

Prophecy by Barlight is a comedic tale about a barkeep, and his desire to get rid of a prophecy. He’s willing to go to some extremes to do it, too.

Finished!

I finished re-writing “Prophecy by Barlight” last night.

I’m going through it again to smooth it out, and I am hoping for release on Friday at 99 cents. It will be 99 cents for a week, then it will go to $2.99.

“Prophecy by Barlight” is the tale of Galdris, the poor hapless sot that buys the Drunken Unicorn, complete with a prophecy in vibrant blue letters on the wall. He soon discovers that the prophecy might draw customers in, but it also causes problems… problems that slowly eat away at him, until he’ll go to great lengths to free himself.

A comedic, fantasy story. 3500 words. (14 pages).

Osiren’s Tears

Prince Ashini must choose between the love of the beautiful goddess, Sekra, and duty to his own people.

Osiren’s Tears is now up on Amazon.

It is priced at $2.99 at the moment.

I might put it up on sale this weekend for 99 cents. I still have to figure out about marketing before I do that.

However, I am going to be moving this to $4.99 next month. It’s a full length book, after all.

There is a sample available on Amazon. You can read most of the first chapter there. Try it before you buy it.

Accomplishments!

Here is the story list I have been working off of. It is incredibly helpful to check off each story as it gets finished, or nears completion.

Pink – Almost done (I’m just filling in and refining.)
Green – Done! Just needs an edit.
Orange – Published.

This is my “Short List” which only has stories listed that have some good development, and synopsis, or chapters already written. Most of the novels have between 10 and 30k words already there in order to be on this list. I have another list that I won’t be looking at for a while that has everything else. The short list keeps me from getting overwhelmed.

But, regardless, watching the green spread across the page as I complete more stories… that sense of accomplishment is awesome! I can’t wait to add a few more green spots, and even orange as I release more of them.

Small Bites

I’ve got a good start on “Small Bites”, and hopefully I can get this done soon. I’m also working on “Osiren’s Tears”, the first book in the Eversword series, and the first 30k word book I’ll be putting out.

Here is a description of “Small Bites”.

Eleven stories, each less then 1000 words. Inside you will find telepaths, vampires, time travelers, werewolves, and magic. Stories about curiosity, darkness, and over stepping your boundaries.

Each story is self contained. They are just small bites into my twisted mind.

  • Beware the Werewolf
    • A sign on a fence, and an interesting twist.
  • Past Talks
    • A day time talk show interviews a time traveling documentary maker.
  • Griffins Flight
    • The mating flight of a griffin.
  • Price of Magic
    • What happens when you take short cuts in magic?
  • Something Beneath
    • A little girl with a big secret.
  • The Chimera
    • First impressions are not always the right ones.
  • Woodwife
    • She told him she didn’t like to be touched.
  • Scarecrow
    • The silent scarecrow sometimes sees more then we think.
  • Price of a Book
    • A beaten woman finally has enough.
  • Carmine
    • A telepath finds more then she bargained for.
  • The Door
    • When curiosity bites back.

The Leftover Pieces

I don’t have much from my past. I had three life changing moments where I was left with only a box of things, and everything else had to be donated, trashed or sold, so only the few things that meant a great deal to me managed to make it to my home now.

But I’ve always thought those things, those precious memoires you choose to keep even when the world is collapsing down around you, those are what define you. They are what show what really matters to you.

Of all the “things” that survived the upheaval in my life, being homeless, a failed marriage, moving to four different states, and crossing thousands of miles of land with just a little suitcase to my name, the only thing that truly survived all of that was my writing.

I have the paper I stole from school, stapled together, and wrote in bright orange marker about a nymph in a forest. I have the poems I typed up on an old typewriter, stapled together, and marked with “1cent” up in the corner. I have the first school assignment that asked for a story about a picture. Some of these are 20+ years old, and I have them all.

In fact, over the last 30 years of writing I have lost only one thing (that I know of). Half of the very first novel I ever completed. Called “Deaths Gate”, it was about a girl who was unable to ever get close to anyone because Death marked her as his bride and would kill anyone who tried to claim her as his.

The novel took five years to put together. I started it in my Junior year of high school, and continued on through the first few years of my marriage. We moved around a lot. Had children. Got our first PC. Had to put all the hand written notes into the PC for the first time.

It took five years of a sentence here and there to get through the 200 page manuscript. It had elves, hunters, battles, nymphs, magic, and one lost young woman who simply wanted to claim her life as her own. It was terrible. Poorly written, and full of Mary Sue’s. But I finished it.

Then my computer crashed and took it with it. All of my hard work just gone. Lost. Unrecoverable.

I did find half of it in a drawer somewhere, the last half, and I still have it. No one else will ever read it, but it will follow me to every home I move to from here on out.

When I took some college classes I tried figuring out “what do you want to be when you grow up?” for the first time since my divorce and having my life in my own hands. I looked back n those leftover pieces and started to think about what was important. What made me “ME”.

What do you have as leftover pieces?
